Iowa Basement Systems in Des Moines & Central Iowa

Waterproofing is the process of redirecting water away from your foundation using a system of underground piping (also known as drain tile) installed beneath the basement floor. This piping channels water to a sump pump, which then safely removes it from your home.

When a structure is built at or below ground level, hydrostatic pressure from the surrounding soil can force water through cracks in the foundation walls or floor. Left untreated, this can cause serious structural damage and lead to mold, rot, and other costly moisture issues.

Don’t wait for it to get worse.

My Basement Got Wet...Now What?

Eliminating Harmful Fungi

The amount of distress and discomfort you and your family may feel trying to control your wet, musty, moisture-filled basement is something that can be avoided for the lifetime of your home.

Here’s how! First, let's get the mess cleaned up – for the LAST TIME!

Take pictures if possible, as they can become a fantastic reference for diagnosing the problem. Remove anything from the area that got wet. Mold can start growing on damp and wet surfaces in a very short time.

Remove any standing water with a wet/dry ShopVac or push the water over to your basement drain using a squeegee.

Start dehumidifying the basement. It is VERY IMPORTANT to start drying out the basement as soon as possible. Put fans in the area to help circulate the air as it’s drying out.

If you have a dehumidifier, utilize this as well to help pull moisture out of the air.
